Des del dia fort, el passat 22 d’abril, el nombre de captures diàries ha disminuït fortament fins a trobar-se per sota de les 10 captures per dia. L’onada de calor (amb temperatures que arriben als 40ºC alguns dies, a l’ombra), i les ventades amb tempesta de sorra associada, estan dificultant la feina a Yasmina. L’Oriol, l’Emil i la Hajar, que estan fent el darrer torn de la campanya, es mereixeran un bon descans a un lloc fresc!!
Les dues espècies més interessants aquests darrers dies (i més apreciades per l’equip que es troba a l’estació) han sigut aquesta femella d’oriol Oriolus oriolus i aquest bonic mascle d’abellerol Merops apiaster.
Aquests dos mascles tardans de tallarol de garriga Curruca iberiae i de mastegatatxes Ficedula hypoleuca tenen plomatges “oposats”, el tallarol de garriga és un mascle amb un plomatge ben acolorit i molt uniforme (que suggereix que es pugui tractar de la no reconeguda subespècie inornata, reproductora al Marroc) i el mastegatatxes té un plomatge molt gris que recorda a una femella (característica típica de la subespècie sibirica o “tomensis“).
Una femella de còlit ros Oenanthe hisanica ha sigut de les poques captures que també es poden destacar d’aquests dies. Juntament amb el còlit gris i el bitxac rogenc, enguany hem fet rècord de captures d’aquestes espècies!
A finals d’abril, si la calor i el vent no fóssin prou càrrega per l’equip de treball, es va muntar un rally que va portar centenars de persones i de cotxes per la zona. Us deixem una imatge, no cal afegir més comentaris…
Since the good day on the April 22nd, the number of daily captures has decreased drastically towards less than 10 birds per day. The heat wave (with temperatures reaching 40ºC on the shadow several days) and the associated winds and sandstorms are difficulting the work at Yasmina. Oriol, Emil and Hajar, the latest team on site, really deserve a rest in a cool place after this!
The two most interesting species these days (and most appreciated by the team) have been this female Golden Oriole Oriolus oriolus and this handsome male European Bee-eater Merops apiaster.
These two males, a Western Subalpine Warbler Curruca iberiae and a Pied Flycatcher Ficedula hypoleuca are interesting on their plumages. The Subalpine Warbler is very coloured and uniform, pointing towards the not-anymore-recognised inornata subspecies that breeds in Morocco; while the grey male Pied Flycacther, similar to a female, could belong to the taxon sibirica or ‘tomensis’ or it could just be extreme variation.
A female Western Black-eared Wheatear Oenanthe hispanica is another remarkable bird of these days. Together with Northern Wheatears and Whinchats, these three species have been caught more commonly than ever before in Yasmina!
By late April, if the heat and the wind were not enough for the ringers, a big rally that brought hundreds of people and cars landed in the area. We’ll post this picture and no more comments need to be added to it…
